A Journey into Understanding

The Nature of Schizoid Personality

As someone with a schizoid personality, I've long been fascinated by the challenge of understanding both myself and the broader nature of schizoid experience. While diagnostic criteria like ICD-10 and DSM-5 provide a starting point, they barely scratch the surface of what it means to be schizoid.

The Core Research (January 2023)

In early 2023, I conducted an extensive analysis of the r/Schizoid community. Using LLMs and embeddings, I transformed ten thousands of personal accounts into structured data, performing clustering to identify patterns in how schizoid individuals describe their experiences. This revealed something fundamental: the schizoid personality essentially reduces to two core factors - high introversion and detachment - with various subsidiary characteristics forming intricate patterns around these central pillars.

Schizoid Clusters

Empirical Validation (Spring 2023)

Following the initial research, I gathered additional data through the AMBI test. Twenty-seven individuals with schizoid traits completed this comprehensive assessment, allowing me to compare their results against general population norms. This empirical foundation, combined with Big-5 personality research and my broader analysis, led to the development of a specialized schizoid personality assessment targeting the unique aspects of schizoid personality.

Current Development (November 2024)

After a pause since March 2023, I've now resumed work on this project. While the core structure of the assessment is complete with 99 carefully crafted items, I'm taking the time to refine and fine-tune each element before release. This attention to detail ensures the final assessment will truly capture the depth and complexity of schizoid experience.

Contribute to Understanding

While the specialized assessment is being refined, you can contribute to our growing understanding by taking the AMBI test. Your responses help build a clearer picture of how schizoid traits relate to broader personality patterns.

Take the AMBI Test

The AMBI combines eight personality inventories into a comprehensive 10-20 minute assessment. Each response helps deepen our understanding of personality patterns within our community.
